Little by little.... your becoming more vocal, exploring the sounds you can make. You've moved beyond just making babbling noises to creating sophisticated sounds and stringing together constanants. But the best part is that you say 'MumMa'. I guess this is where I should also mention, to be fair, that you say 'Dada' too. But I think you say MumMa more. I think you know what it means, although I can't be totally sure. But when you want to be picked up you scoot right over to my feet and tug at my pants saying 'MumMa'. So, if you haven't learned its meaning yet.... you will soon.

You can feed yourself. I couldn't believe that I could put you in your highchair and hand you your bottle and walk away. What a new concept - for me and you! And a new addition to your food repetoire... sweet potato rice puffs. You can feed yourself, although most of the time more end up on your shirt/bib/lap/neck (pick one) than they do in your mouth. You give it a try, sometimes it takes all ten fingers at one time to get the tiny morsel in your mouth, and its a treat for you when they land on your tongue. You gum it away like you've been doing it for months, not just a day. You prefer to let Mommy help you because then you know its guaranteed to get in your mouth. You sleep through the night; you need about 11 hours. We often hear you in the morning through the monitor playing in your crib blowing raspberries, kicking and babbling and it puts a smile on our face. Kayla, you put a smile on our face every morning. There's never been anything that has made us want to jump out of bed at 7am until you came along. We race to your crib and gaze over the rail at you as you peer back at us and give us that two-tooth grin. How can anyone be so happy and so ready to play with their toys the instant they wake up? You are just busy, busy, busy. You open, pull, push, tip over, turn, slam, bang, tap, eat, drop, touch, poke anything you can get your hands on. You are curious about the world around you and I'm glad you are. I hope that curiosity never leaves you.

What this all means? Your gaining your independance, little by little.

A cute story from Ms. Joann - you crawled under the dining room table and Abby followed, and there the two of you played together, on the floor, under the table. You two are becoming quite the inseperable duo!
