Tonight marked the kick-off to Kayla's week-long birthday celebration. Much like her mom, Kayla, too, will get a full 7 days (10 days if she's lucky) to celebrate the turning of another year older. Kayla, Aaron and I celebrated Day 1 with two of Kayla's closest friends (or Best Friends as she calls them), Amolia and Addison, at the movie theatre watching the premier of Toy Story 3. Having talked about this day for weeks prior, Kayla was very excited. All three were given matching Toy Story t-shirts and Kayla (and Addison) recieved her favorite Toy Story character - a Jessie doll.

The girls did great the whole movie! Jessie even attended the movie with us and sat attentively in her own seat the entire show. There were restless periods which is to be expected with three 3-year olds watching a 2-hour movie. There were two popcorn bucket refill breaks, one potty break and Kayla sprinted down the aisle to the front of the theater only once. I have to say, the movie deserved its "4 out of 4 star" rating - it was quite entertaining!

Attending a matinee showing of an animated Disney movie in a theatre full of children was a first for us. Aaron observed it was very similar to visiting Chuck E. Cheese. There are benefits to this sort of movie showing, the first being that it can be guaranteed that - for once - your child won't be the loudest in the crowd and two, there's nothing better than getting to clap at the end of a good movie. It was a fun night! Happy Birthday Week, Kayla Raine!
