A new cousin

It was a big, BIG weekend! We were with Kurt and Sarah to help welcome their son, Kayla's cousin, Travis Aaron to the world! He was born on Friday, October 22 at 7:56am and weighed 7lbs 13 oz. Kurt and Sarah asked Aaron and I to help by staying at their house to watch Cassidy while they were in the hospital for the weekend. Kayla said to me the last night we stayed there, "I love being at Sarah's house because I love to be with Cassidy". The gift of a cousin is a wonderful thing - and Travis only adds to that gift!

Travis is wonderful and perfect and healthy. We forgot how tiny a newborn can be! Congratulations to the Mom and Dad on a beautiful baby! It was a wonderful weekend for everyone, never to be forgotten!

Kayla was enthralled with Travis. She could not get enough of him. She always wanted to be near him, sitting by him, looking at him, hugging him, giving him kisses, holding him, touching him... you get the picture. During one evening visit to the hospital Kayla said, I'm sure no less than twenty times, "Awwww, he's soooo cute!" (Even now, looking at these pictures, she is saying the same thing again). She asked lots of questions, about his belly button, when his eyes would open, and if she could touch his toes. We knew she loved babies, she loves to re-enact 'Baby and Mommy' games at home, and she is such an affectionate loving child, but it was great (and reassuring) to see her so caring, gentle and "helpful" with Travis. We never had our doubts, but now we know that she will also be as attentive and loving with her own sibling.
